How Does RFID Work?

the technology inside of RFID fobs and cardsRFID or “Radio-frequency identification” is a method of storing information on a very small chip which is then able to be read by the appropriate reader. The fobs that contain the chip holding the information are passive, meaning that there is no battery or power source in the fob itself, rather the reader provides the power to the fob. The chip itself is connected to an antenna that is activated when brought into a working range with the matching reader; the reader then provides power to the antenna which enables the data on the chip to be transmitted to the reader. The amount of information that the chip stores depends entirely on the technology, however, the chip is normally chosen dependent on the amount of information needed for each application.

24 hour gym and leisure centers throughout the USA, Australia and New Zealand use RFID technology with their security and access control systems to help ensure both the physical security of their site, as well as to assist in reducing unnecessary staff costs. Member safety is also increased with the use of access control as only authorized members are able to access the center helping to create the safest possible environment for members. At Gym Fobs Direct, we supply only the highest quality RFID fobs and cards so you can have peace of mind knowing that your members will get reliable, safe access to your gym or fitness center.
